Darkness was all I could see
Damp and cold air
Was all I had to breathe!
My grip around cold iron bars
Wrapping my hands tightly,
Trying one last attempt to spread them apart,
So that once again I might be freed.
No sooner did a voice come from the distance.
Soft and gentle, full of Grace and sincerity.
“You can stand down now guard!,
Not one of these prisoners is now your responsibility!”
Then I heard that voice so familiar, raspy and rough,
‘Who are you to say this to me?’
“If you haven’t heard yet my friend,
I have purchased these captives with all authority,
Even you yourself have been given freedom,
For the rest of eternity!
I’m not here to argue, not here to accuse,
It’s a gift for the taking, Look for yourself! I even hold the keys!”
